We're really presidential over here at Kweendom KritiK these days. So what better way to increase our presidential status than to sit down wit El Prezo of Clark Atlanta University, A. Philanda Moore. The man behind our prestigious university. This man is truly qualified for this position and I believe he will take Clark Atlanta to the top!!
Hello A. Philanda! How are you doing?
A. Philanda: I'm doing well, just living life one day at a time; trying to be the best I can be. How are you doing?
Good. What are your plans to take CAU to the next level?
A. Philanda: I have many plans to take CAU to the next level. However, it is neither my plans alone nor SGA, that will help shape the university as it goes on. It is a collective plan of SGA, Student Body, and Administration what will help forge a new path at CAU. I would say though one of the biggest plans is the brand/image of CAU and how the students will help define necessarily what that is.
What would you say to all the people that had negative things to say about the election?
A Philanda: I believe everyone is entitled to have their own prerogative on that they feel and believe; but if you are not actively trying to make a change then maybe you shouldn't make nonconstructive statements. However, we are going to be working on ways to correct trends that have been arising so that they may not happen again.
I heard you had a lot to do with Homecoming last year. What do you have in mind this year?
A.Philanda: Well, all I can tell you is the Homecoming is Sept. 26 through Oct. 3, 2010 filled with numerous surprises throughout the wee. I cant give away the details (OK, maybe just one; hmmm...nope). Really though, if you thought last year was good, but CAU is in for a real treat this year.
OK ok, I was playing, I'll give you a sneak peek; we are in the works of bringing a major tour back to CAU. That's all you get for free. Don't ask anything else, lol.
Ok, Ok! lol. In order...What are your top 3 priorities for CAU this school year?
A.Philanda: 1. Improve the communication on campus; specifically between Students, SGA, and Administration.
2. Update and Improve Student Handbook; which includes the SGA Constitution as well as other pertinent Policies and Procedures.
3. Increase School Pride; by recognizing individuals and/or groups for excellence in Academics, Athletics, and Civic Engagement.
p.s??? (I really cant tell you this one; but just know I'm working on something big for the school)
What does a CAU president do in his spare time?
A. Philanda: To be totally honest, I like to sleep; I be so tired (lol); I just want to nap all the time. I like to play video games and watch jeopardy (on the low, I'm a nerd; but I'm a cool nerd). I like to play sports and listen to music. Alright last one; when I really have some time, I like to go to the art gallery specifically the CAU Art Gallery and the High Art Museum; if you ever get a chance come to my office to see some of the mini collection.
Anything else?
A.Philanda: I just want everybody to have a good school year and be ready for all the great things that are to come. Also, to know if you see me on the promenade, student center, CMW, wherever...You can stop me and say hi, ask questions, or whatever. I'm not mean ( I promise). Lastly, (please) if you see something you want to change please tell someone in SGA; I know we all know the cliche " A closed mouth doesn't get fed." I don't want students to feel like they can't voice their opinion; you can, just do so to the proper channels.
