A. PHILANDA MOORE...WHAT'S IN STORE?

We're really presidential over here at Kweendom KritiK these days. So what better way to increase our presidential status than to sit down wit El Prezo of Clark Atlanta University, A. Philanda Moore. The man behind our prestigious university. This man is truly qualified for this position and I believe he will take Clark Atlanta to the top!!

Hello A. Philanda! How are you doing?

A. Philanda: I'm doing well, just living life one day at a time; trying to be the best I can be. How are you doing?

Good. What are your plans to take CAU to the next level?

A. Philanda: I have many plans to take CAU to the next level. However, it is neither my plans alone nor SGA, that will help shape the university as it goes on. It is a collective plan of SGA, Student Body, and Administration what will help forge a new path at CAU. I would say though one of the biggest plans is the brand/image of CAU and how the students will help define necessarily what that is.

What would you say to all the people that had negative things to say about the election?

A Philanda: I believe everyone is entitled to have their own prerogative on that they feel and believe; but if you are not actively trying to make a change then maybe you shouldn't make nonconstructive statements. However, we are going to be working on ways to correct trends that have been arising so that they may not happen again.

I heard you had a lot to do with Homecoming last year. What do you have in mind this year?

A.Philanda: Well, all I can tell you is the Homecoming is Sept. 26 through Oct. 3, 2010 filled with numerous surprises throughout the wee. I cant give away the details (OK, maybe just one; hmmm...nope). Really though, if you thought last year was good, but CAU is in for a real treat this year.
OK ok, I was playing, I'll give you a sneak peek; we are in the works of bringing a major tour back to CAU. That's all you get for free. Don't ask anything else, lol.

Ok, Ok! lol. In order...What are your top 3 priorities for CAU this school year?

A.Philanda: 1. Improve the communication on campus; specifically between Students, SGA, and Administration.
2. Update and Improve Student Handbook; which includes the SGA Constitution as well as other pertinent Policies and Procedures.
3. Increase School Pride; by recognizing individuals and/or groups for excellence in Academics, Athletics, and Civic Engagement.
p.s??? (I really cant tell you this one; but just know I'm working on something big for the school)

What does a CAU president do in his spare time?

A. Philanda: To be totally honest, I like to sleep; I be so tired (lol); I just want to nap all the time. I like to play video games and watch jeopardy (on the low, I'm a nerd; but I'm a cool nerd). I like to play sports and listen to music. Alright last one; when I really have some time, I like to go to the art gallery specifically the CAU Art Gallery and the High Art Museum; if you ever get a chance come to my office to see some of the mini collection.

Anything else?
A.Philanda: I just want everybody to have a good school year and be ready for all the great things that are to come. Also, to know if you see me on the promenade, student center, CMW, wherever...You can stop me and say hi, ask questions, or whatever. I'm not mean ( I promise). Lastly, (please) if you see something you want to change please tell someone in SGA; I know we all know the cliche " A closed mouth doesn't get fed." I don't want students to feel like they can't voice their opinion; you can, just do so to the proper channels.

I don't know about you but I'm excited!! Get ready for a EVENTFUL school year!!!

Who the F*ck is Fan Club?!

Person 1: "Man, who the f*ck is Fan Club?!"...
Person 2: "You know the Jerk Boys!"

Person 1: "Ohhhhhhhh! I know them!"

You've seen them around. The skinny jean rocking, BBC copping, Skate board riding, nudie jean finding "Jerk Boys".
Well they have a name people. And the name is FAN CLUB. I took the time to interview the CEO Chris Taylor aka FAT
to see exactly what FAN CLUB has in store for next semester.

Hello Chris! How are you doing?

Chris: A lil sleepy haven't slept in days.

Cool. Lets talk about Fan Club. How'd you get the name? Explain Fan Club to the readers..

Chris: The name came from me while I was working back in Cali. This baddie was messin' wit sum bum dude
and I just had to let her know...a Fresh-Ass-Nigga-Can-Luv-You-Better.

What audience do you want to reach? What is Fan Club's goal?

Chris: I really want to reach all the young people who want to be something...The goal of Fan Club is to bring
all young people together who have bright ideas and are talented.

Interesting. How could someone go about joining Fan Club?

Chris: The process isn't that hard. You let a FC member know, they will ask you what are you bringing to the table...
after that they will bring it to me...I will bring it to the fam...and we'll vote!

Alot of people call Fan Club the jerk boys. Do you take that offensive?

Why you wanna be a soldier?!

We see them everyday on the promenade walking to class...18-21 year olds in uniform. Choosing a different route than we chose. It makes you wonder, why? Aren't you afraid? Do you have to go to Iraq? I never understood and I'm pretty sure none of you have either. I got the chance to have a chat with Morehouse student Reginald Brown (NAVY man) & Clark Atlanta student Isiah Paschal (ARMY man) to ask the questions we've all been dying to know.

Hello Gentlemen how are y'all doing?

Isiah: I'm am doing fine.

Reggie: I'm doing pretty well enjoying some time off before we get into Maine Week. We're in Norfolk, VA doing some training this month.

Good. So what's it like being a Army & Navy man? What makes it better to each of you?

Isiah: Being an army man is a challenge with great responsibilities, you have to always carry yourself with pride because many men and women died doing this same job. What I believe makes a army man better is because we look at life in a different light. What they teach us is that we serve the United States, we do a job that many are scared to do.

Reggie: It's cool...get's difficult at times but with the right mentality and some enthusiasm it can actually be pretty enjoyable. It's one of those things like you get from it what you put into it. I think what makes a Navy man better is the fact that we're apart of a branch that requires you to be motivated, squared away and about your business. Not only are we required to be in good physical shape. We also have certain requirements academically. Our motto "Stand the test, join the best" is something we take to heart. You have to, or you won't make it through this program.

Is it hard being in college and being in the service? What extra things do you have to do?

Isiah: I have more to deal with but it's not hard if you set your priorities correct, you have more business to handle. The extra things I have to do is once a month I leave for drill and while in school I have to take a class and a lab once a week. I have to keep physically fit because personal fitness is huge in the army.

Reggie: Honestly, it does get hard sometime because we have to be on top of our book work and our obligations for the Navy. We have certain obligations academically with the Navy. We're required to take a certain amount of attempted credit hours each semester and maintain a GPA of 2.5 or better. And the Navy isn't too fond of GPA's sitting on the border line. In addition to that we have to take certain courses pertaining to our naval training each semester and we go away for a month each summer for training. We also are required to go to mandatory PT(physical training) and drill.

But they pay for your school right? What are the bonuses you get?

Isiah: Yes, I can attend any school in the country for free and they also pay me to go to school. they want me to focus on finishing school so they make life easier.

Reggie: Yes, they do pay for school, and we also receive a monthly stipend that varies by your rank in the program.

So are you scheduled to leave anytime soon?

Isiah: I will not be getting deployed anytime soon so for right I just have my monthly drills to go to.

Reggie: I'm actually in VA right now for summer training. I left for VA May 27th and I'll be back on June 26th. During this month, we're just learning more about the Navy and career opportunities. Every summer, each Midshipman from all the Navy ROTC programs around the country go away for training if they meet all the qualification requirements. And will be doing so every summer until you graduate and get commissioned as a naval officer.

What would you want people to know about the ARMY/NAVY that they probably don't know?

Isiah: Support is huge for a soldier, our loved ones are our biggest motivation and when we are away the support is what helps us make it through. Never judge a soldier, we are still human with fears, dreams and goals.

Reggie: I would like people to know the navy is full of opportunities. Especially if you do the officer training program while you're trying to obtain your bachelors degree. You can graduate college knowing you have a guaranteed job right after that. You will also have yourself and your families health care paid for by the government. If one chooses to get out of the Navy you can leave with a nice addition to your resume. The Navy is a promising career choice if you have what it takes to see it through.

The Drink of the AUC

Here in the AUC we pride ourselves on being the life of the party...lowkey. Let's face it no matter your academic standing, presence on campus or high standing...we ALL like to PARTY. And what better way to party than under the influence :)! 2 drinks are under review for drink of the AUC. And in reality it all depends on your preference.

Ivannabitch is a Russian vodka by way of Holland. And if you've ever wondered why its so strong its because its charcoal-filtered and distilled 5 TIMES! Normally vodka is distilled 2-3 times. The distillation process makes Ivanabitch one of the clearest vodkas in the WORLD. You can get a bottle at your local liqour store for an astonishing $9.99.

SN: best for parties of 2+

Recently taking over the AUC by storm is an alcoholic energy drink that goes by the name of Four Loko (brought to the AUC by mostly students from South Carolina). This malt liquor bevarage is available in 7 fruity flavors such as fruit punch, watermelon, lemonade, grape, blue raspberry, cranberry lemonade and orange. Four Loko contains 12% alcohol and is available in most gas stations and 7-11 stores for $2.99.

SN: Four Loko is made to intoxicate 1 person per can...dont share. You look stupid. ;)
Either drink is a definite winner. It just depends on your preference. :) Drink safe.
